So Sayeth the Odinson: Top 10 Guest Fighters the Odinson Wants to See in Mortal Kombat: Part 2 of 2

Greetings from the Odinson,

Ranging from the worlds of Horror: Freddy Kruger, Leatherface, and Jason Voorhees to Cinematic Icons: Rambo, Terminator, RoboCop, Alien, and Predator to Comic Books: The Justice League, Joker, Hellboy, and Spawn, to even other Video Games: Kratos; over the years, Mortal Kombat has included some of the coolest and most unexpected guest-fighters in their games.

Here is the second part of my list of characters the Odinson would love to see guest-star in the tournament that will decide the fate of the realms.

See Part 1 HERE.

Top 10 Guest Fighters the Odinson Wants to See in Mortal Kombat

Part 2 of 2

5 – The WolfmanEven a man who is pure of heart and says his prayers at night may become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright.  Larry Talbot is an everyman who was bitten by a wolf.  Unfortunately for Talbot, this wolf was a werewolf.  Now, Talbot is cursed with lycanthropy.  By the light of the full moon, he transforms into a monster, a wolf that walks like a man, a beast with savage strength and a wanton drive for murder, death, kill.

Signature Moves: The Wolfman is 6-foot 2-inches of bristling muscle, claws, and fangs.  His move set would include a berserker claw attack, a flesh-rending bite, and a lunging pounce that slams his opponent to the ground with bone-breaking force.

Dream Match: It will be a monster mash for the ages when the Wolfman matches his savagery against the monsters of the MK Universe like Reptile (a lizard man), Motaro (a half-man/half-horse centaur), Moloch (an Oni), D’Vorah (a spider-woman) and, of course, Prince Goro (a half-man/half-dragon with four arms of terror).

Tyler Durden

4 – Tyler Durden – This antihero of the seminal Gen-X tale Fight Club is everything the Narrator isn’t.  He looks like the Narrator wants to look.  He talks like the narrator wants to talk.  And he can do all the things the Narrator does not have the courage to do himself.  Durden rose to become the leader of a cult of anarchists determined to change the world with Project Mayhem.  And it all started with a singular idea, an underground fighting club.  It’s something we are not supposed to talk about.  That is the number one rule.

Signature Moves: For Tyler Durden, fighting is a cathartic experience, a primal rite of passage.  He enjoys taking punishment as much as dishing it out.  His main attacks would be rib-cracking body blows that ring out with the meat-slapping consistency of Rocky Balboa taking out his frustrations on a slab of hanging beef. After sustaining a certain amount of damage in the bout, Tyler will strike a Bruce Lee pose and emit an infectious hysterical laughter that amps up his speed and power for a short amount of time.

Dream Match: With a strong distaste for authority, Durden could have epic clashes with the law officer Stryker, the Special Forces operatives Sonya Blade and Jax, and the leader of the realm of Order, Hotaru.

Something that could be really entertaining is the interactions between the devious Tyler Durden and the lord of chaos himself, Havik.  They’d become mates and that would spell trouble for the Realms.

3 – The Kurgan – Since the dawn of mankind the immortals have been among us.  Secretly living hundreds of lives and dueling one another for the right to claim the ultimate prize.  In the end, there can be only one.  The Kurgan is the strongest of all the immortals.  He is also the cruelest and most sadistic.  If he wins the Prize, mankind will cast into ruin and suffer immensely under his rule.

Signature Moves: The Kurgan’s main weapon would be his massive broadsword which he would use to deliver devastating hacks and slashes, leaping downward chops, and crippling swipes.

Dream Match: This powerful immortal warlord from the ancient steppes of Russia would fit right in with the other would-be conquerors of the Realms.  His clashes with fellow immortals Raiden and Shao Khan would be the stuff of legends.  But in the end, there can be only one.

Buffy Summers

2 – Buffy the Vampire Slayer – She is the Slayer.  The Chosen One.  The one girl in all the world that can protect mankind from the vampires, the monsters, and all the things that go bump in the night. And to defeat the monsters and demons that contend in the Mortal Kombat tournament, Buffy is going to need all her supernatural strength, speed, and skills to do it.

Luckily, Buffy is one of the best improvisational fighters ever.  She can think on the fly, use the environment to her advantage, and outwit even the most powerful foes.

Signature Moves:  Armed to the teeth with all sorts of monster-killing weapons like wooden stakes, axes, swords, and even the legendary enchanted Slayer Scythe.  Buffy is also quite agile, her strength and speed allows her to wall-walk like Trinity, which she could use as an environment attack.  And of course use, she would use her always crowd-pleasing scorpion kick.  Another signature move she shares with Trinity.

Dream Match: Buffy has fought vampires, witches, demons, and even gods!  So, she’s perfectly capable of matching brawn and wits with the likes of Nitara (a vampire), Sindel (a witch), Noob Saibot (a specter), and Shinnok (an elder god).

1 – Shang Chi – He is the Master of Kung Fu.  It can be argued that Shang Chi is the greatest hand-to-hand fighter in the Marvel Universe.  And he doesn’t even have superpowers.  He gets his exercise by sparring with elite fighters like Iron Fist and Captain America.  He has fought Razor Fist, a guy that has knives for hands, and come away without a scratch.  Plus, Spider-Man and Wolverine call him sensei.

Signature Moves: A blinding flurry of punches.  A jaw-breaking flying kick.  Spinning back kicks.  And a superfast execution of Wing Chun defensive moves that leave his opponents dizzy and exposed.

Dream Match: As the Master, even great warriors like Kung Lao, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero can still learn a thing or two about kombat from Shang Chi.  Plus, who doesn’t want to see the ultimate showdown between the Champion of Mortal Kombat, Liu Kang, and the Master of Kung Fu, Shang Chi?

Mortal Kombat has a fantastic history of bringing in special guest fighters to compete in their tournament.  These are 10 fighters the Odinson would love to see make an appearance in future installments of the game.

Be on the lookout in the months to come for more special guests the Odinson would love to see in Mortal Kombat.  Until then…

This is Odinson bidding thee farewell
